Located just 16 miles north of the Loop, Skokie is popular with homebuyers who want a quick trip into the city. Residents also appreciate the divers, family-oriented lifestyle that Skokie offers. Skokie has a very dynamic economy and because of this the village has profited greatly. Some of Skokie’s major employer’s include Pfizer Corporation, Klein Tools, and Rand McNally & Co.
The Skokie Park District offers many different programs, and has done so since 1928. Facilities in the park district include nicely maintained swimming pools, parks, playgrounds, tennis courts, and an indoor ice skating facility.
Skokie is home to the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts. The center was opened in 1996 and has hosted such major acts as Bill Cosby and the Hubbard Street Dance Company.
Schools: Elementary School Districts 65, 68,69,72,73 and 73.5 all serve Skokie and all provide a variety of comprehensive programs.
High school students attend District 219.
Transportation: The Edens Expressway (I-94) runs through the western edge of the village. Drive time to the Loop is 30 minutes.
Metra trains from the Park Ridge station reach the Loop in 24 minutes by express, 30 minutes by local. Chicago O’Hare Airport is a 20 minute drive, and Chicago Midway Airport is a 45 minute drive.
